Supervision Rules & Roadblocks: Navigating the LMSW to LCSW Journey

Are you an LCSW-Supervisor who feels confident in your relational and supervisory skills but confused or anxious when it comes to BHEC rules and changes that impact how LMSWs can offer clinical work in Texas?

If so, this training is for you!

This 2.0 CEU virtual training is designed for LCSW-Supervisors to deepen their understanding of Texas Board of Behavioral Health and Ethics Council (BHEC) rules, ethical considerations, and best practices in clinical supervision.

We’ll address frequently asked questions from supervisors and LMSWs, citing specific laws while also exploring the gray areas and practical factors that impact supervision.

Topics include supervision requirements, practice limitations for LMSWs, billing considerations, recent rule changes, and ethical challenges in remote supervision.

The session will include live Q&A, case discussions, and practical guidance to enhance your supervision practice. Participants will receive access to the recorded training for ongoing reference.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify key Texas BHEC rules and ethical guidelines that govern LCSW supervision and LMSW practice.

  2. Clarify common misconceptions about supervision, including LMSW practice limitations, billing, and business structures.

  3. Analyze real-world supervision dilemmas and explore ethical decision-making in ambiguous situations.

  4. Discuss recent rule changes and their impact on supervision plans and practice.

  5. Apply best practices to support LMSWs in their clinical development while maintaining compliance with state regulations.
