Helping Families of Treatment Refusers
Across the two-session of this live training, you’ll learn how to use a family systems approach to provide much-needed support to family members seeking help, teaching them how to reduce distress and family conflict and shape recovery behavior in their loved one. In Session 1 of this course, you’ll explore the conceptual, philosophical, and empirical foundations of FWBC and learn the five steps to family well-being. In Session 2, you’ll see how FWBC might be applied to three different family situations as well as smaller vignettes to illustrate the approach in practice across a variety of challenges that can emerge when working with families dealing with recovery avoidance. Time will also be reserved for questions and case discussion. By adding this framework to your repertoire, you’ll be able to expand your practice to help a group of people who desperately need support, as well as indirectly encouraging recovery in their loved ones.
