A Comprehensive, Integrative Approach to Anxiety and Depression Through Neurophysiological Regulation and Gut-Brain Health

As biofeedback-informed and technology-supported approaches become more widely studied and adopted, many clinicians lack clear guidance on how to integrate these noninvasive strategies into practice in an ethical, evidence-informed manner. This activity addresses this gap by increasing clinician understanding of integrative, mind-body and gut-brain oriented approaches that may complement established mental health treatments.

This webinar introduces clinicians to an integrative, evidence-informed framework for supporting individuals with anxiety and depression through mind-body regulation and gut-brain health. The session also considers related conditions characterized by dysregulation, including obsessive-compulsive and stress-related symptom patterns. The presentation focuses on anxiety and depression as multidimensional conditions involving interactions among cognitive, emotional, behavioral, autonomic, and gastrointestinal systems. Emphasis is placed on research on nervous system regulation, physiological resilience, and the role of the gut-brain axis in emotional and mental health.

Dr. Barclay will review clinical models that integrate biofeedback and neurofeedback principles with emerging noninvasive, technology-supported approaches designed to enhance bioregulation and autonomic balance. The session will discuss how these modalities may be used independently or alongside established therapeutic interventions to support symptom reduction and functional improvement.

At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Describe an integrative approach to anxiety and depression that addresses emotional, cognitive, physiological, and gut-brain factors

  • Identify biofeedback-based and neurophysiological regulation technologies, including neurofeedback and other noninvasive tools, and their role in supporting nervous system balance

  • Discuss practical ways to integrate regulation-focused, technology-supported and gut-brain informed approaches into both in-person and remote clinical practice

*This webinar is not eligible for CE/CME.
