Trained, certified, and showing up: What youth peer support looks like from the inside

Many people have questions about youth peer support. What does it look like in practice? Who does it? Is it safe? In this conversation, you’ll hear the answers straight from the people best positioned to give them: certified youth peer supporters who are actually doing this work.

Our panelists have completed formal training, supported their peers through real challenges, and gone on to advocate for youth peer support at a policy level. They’ll walk us through what their experience was like, their state- or organization-specific certification process, the impact they made, and what they wish more people understood about this field.

If you’ve ever wondered what youth peer support really entails, this is your chance to ask.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand what the training, certification, and supervision process looks like for youth peer supporters in a variety of settings

  • Hear firsthand accounts of what providing peer support is actually like (the rewarding and the challenging)

  • Learn how young people move from peer supporter to future career and advocacy roles, and why those pathways matter

  • Leave with a clearer picture of how to support or expand youth peer support in your community or organization
