Pathways to Care Health Fair: Connecting Central Texas Seniors with Wellness Resources

On November 1, 2025, the Translational Health Research Center (THRC) and faculty from the College of Health Professions at Texas State University partnered to host the Pathways to Care Health Fair for Adults 60+ at the San Marcos Public Library.

The event brought together local health providers, community partners, and residents for a day focused on wellness, connection, and access to local resources that support older adults across Central Texas. Attendees enjoyed free health screenings, educational materials, and opportunities to connect with health professionals committed to improving community well-being.

The fair featured a wide range of health screenings, including:

  • Hearing Tests

  • Cognitive Screenings

  • Pulmonary Function Tests

  • Gait Assessments (balance, posture, and muscle activity)

  • Blood Pressure and Oxygen Level Checks

  • Diabetes Screenings

  • Mental Health Screenings

  • Medication Reviews

We are especially grateful to all the vendors and community partners who joined us and shared their time, expertise, and compassion with our seniors. Their participation made the day both educational and enjoyable for everyone who attended. Many guests brought friends and family members, helping create a welcoming environment that reflected the strong sense of community that defines San Marcos.

A special thank you goes to the San Marcos Public Library for allowing us to host the event there and helping spread the word, and to the Hays County Health Department for their support in promoting the fair and sharing information with the community.
